Mariza is considered one of the most beautiful and sensual of what some call the new movement of fado, traditional Portuguese music. The name derives from the Latin Fatum (destiny) as it draws the typical feeling of the Portuguese saudade and tells themes of separation, passion, love and emigration.
The versatility of this singer has taken her years to a ffrontare genres including gospel and soul, but the path to the world and the Portuguese tradition was certainly the most brilliant, having done much to earn in a few years the title of "Queen of Fado" .
His passionate performances and his wonderful stage presence accompanied by a haunting voice to say the least, have led to an international recognition.
In ten years the Portuguese singer has v enduto over one million records earning 32 platinum records.
In recent years she has performed in New York City Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall in London, Sydney Opera House el'Olimpia of Paris, won three awards for the BBC for Best European Act and two nominations for the Latin Grammy Awards. The release of the album
