Tribute to the Portuguese filmmaker Regina Pessoa at the Bergamo Film Meeting

land is 12 to 20 March 2011, the 29th edition of the Bergamo Film Meeting. A festival that, in the variety and richness of its proposals, has been built over the years, a strong identity, characterized as a laboratory culture and ideas,
as an opportunity for encounter, discovery, learning and fun. On the one hand observation of the contemporary, sensitive to new trends, new authors and new forms of storytelling, the other place of research and discovery of the most fascinating pages in the history of cinema.
About 80 films in 9 days of screening proposed: a competition for feature films, new works, tributes and retrospectives, documentaries, animated shorts, previews and cult movies, filled with meetings with authors, workshops, exhibitions, art, music and parties.

TRIBUTE TO REGINA PESSOA
The rich program of Bergamo Film Meeting also provides a tribute to Regina Pessoa and an exhibition of his works in the hall door to St. Augustine.
Regina Pessoa, now one of the most representative figure of the new animated film world, not just the "female", will be the star of the monographic exhibition of the festival.
Since 1992, he worked in the studio with filmographer Abi Feijo (award winning director, chairman and president of ASIFA International Porto's Casa da Animação), for which he supervised the animation of Os Salteadores ( The Outlaws , 1993), Fado Lusitano (1995) and Clandestino ( Stowaway , 2000). Always with Abi Feijo and co-author of Cycle Viciosa (1996) and Estrelas de Natal ( Poinsettias, 1998).
His first film, A Noite (The Night , 1999), won numerous awards across Europe. Created with the technique of engraving and painting on plaster slabs - which requires long lead times, even for a few minutes of film - and work at the same time poetic and detailed, which describes the fears, the shadows and silences Night of a child. Six years later, with tragic ends História final feliz ( Tragic Story with Happy Ending , 2005) which won, among others, the prestigious Annecy Cristal (best short), the Annecy Awards 2006. Featuring a hard design, defined by thick black lines, the film takes us back in history, sweet, a little girl, whose heart beats too loud. And 'boy' different ', struggling with his demons, the protagonist of the project which is currently finishing Regina Pessoa, Kali or Pequeno Vampiro ( Kali, the little vampire ).

and Regina Pessoa Abi Feijó will be guests of Bergamo Film Meeting and will be the protagonists of a WORKSHOP ANIMATION addressed to a select group of students.
Recipients: 16 students of schools of Italian Art and Animation. The workshops are limited: 16 people divided into 4 sets of animation.

Description: The objective of this workshop is to provide a 14-hour approach to animation, based on a music or a soundtrack, using the technique to animate directly under the camera, like the animation in decoupage with a set of multi-layer, or the animation of objects or even sand. The result will be a short film, about a minute. Students will be required to work in small groups of 4 students each, the score will be divided into 4 pieces and each group will adapt and synchronize with animation.

Cost: The workshop is free .
There is no reimbursement for the costs of food, accommodation and transportation of the participants.
All members can get credit for the Bergamo Film Meeting, which entitles you access to all the projections of the XXIX Festival (within the limits capacity of salt), the withdrawal of the catalogs, the stock of the festival to participate in all activities promoted by the festival side (debates, awards ceremony, meetings with authors, parties). The cost is 10 € for the accreditation fee. Credits retire at the Office Accommodation in via Tasso 4, starting from Saturday 12 to Saturday, March 19.
